Trango

Trango is a leading outdoor gear manufacturer and distributor. They came to Clear Sky Designs requiring a fresh new look for their website as well as a more robust and feature rich e-commerce application. We proceeded to build the new trango.com on the open source platform OpenCart. We developed the ability for them to add multiple quantities of multiple products to the cart at one time.This was done by creating special category types that mimic the product view pages with the exception of listing multiple quantity boxes. AJAX was used to add each product to the cart before redirecting the user to the cart page. Trango also supports multiple special fields for each categorical product and product page, enabling them to add far more content on the product pages than a standard OpenCart installation.

In addition to the e-commerce system, we create designed a custom WordPress theme that matches the trango.com look and feel. Trango.com utilizes the Trango blog to enrich their homepage content. This combination allows them to provide fresh news and engaging content to their customers through a variety of access points.

In 2004, Clear Sky Designs was one of the earliest innovators in the use of user generated video content. Predating youtube and many other popular video sharing sites, we developed usability standards that are common now. Video files are typically large files that standard protocols (http) can not handle. We developed an interface and protocol that allowed large file uploads by registered users.

Launched in 2006, UCTV was a result of those early coding efforts. The site allows users to upload their own videos. Then the system automatically converts the files to a flash file, resulting in a much smaller download for the user.

Initially launched in 2003, kathylo.com was an industry leader in online photo editing using javascript. The site was relaunched in 2008 with all powerful photo previewing and editing capabilities. The site allows users to upload and customize their photos. Then they may drag and drop their selections into jewelry. It is an example of a rich javascript environment on a highly customized shopping cart.

While sales are increasing and customer satisfaction has never been better, we are already planning version 3.

Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival

The Flagstaff Film Festival site is built upon the WordPress blogging system. WordPress is a state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. The site is an example of the power and flexibility of the the wordpress system. Using the category and post system inherit to WordPress, the system allowed administrators to easily update their film database.

Users may find a movie by date, session time, or movie title. Creating multiple paths to a single target has always been a principal goal for Clear Sky. Trying to guess how each unique user finds prefers to find a target is difficult. Rather, we are flexible in the way a we allow a user to browse a site. This flexibility creates an easy to use site and a positive user experience.

The site is designed using earth tones colors. This gives the site an “earthy” feel. Flagstaff people are known for their affection towards the environment and outdoor activities. The Flagstaff mountains are displayed in the header background to further identify it being a local effort. Grey tones and a slight asian feel in the trees give the site a modern touch.

NAU Politics & International Affairs

The political science department was originally developed on a university templating system. The system was difficult for faculty to edit content. In addition, the site lacked a modern design and functionality.

Clear Sky Designs was contracted to develop a custom content management system, multiple user types, and blogging software. Our system needed to run on top of university servers that often changed and had unique security permissions which was often challenging.

Since launching the new site, the department has seen an increase in traffic, recognition, and public admiration.

Wolverine Publishing

Wolverine Publishing needed a website that reflected their corporate presence and lifestyle. Clear Sky Designs delivered. This e-commerce system is clean and offers clear graphical navigation so Wolverine’s customers can quickly and easily find the products they’re looking for.
